La Magia de Estar Unidos
Queridos amigos rotarios:
Si me pidieran describir la reciente Conferencia Bi-Distrital en una sola palabra, no podría. Tendría que usar muchas: alegrísima, unidos, amistad, preparada, inspirada, agradecido, complacido… Cada una de estas expresiones fue compartida por quienes vivieron este evento y representan el sentir de todos los que fuimos parte de esta experiencia inolvidable.
Organizar una Conferencia Distrital ya es un gran reto para cualquier Gobernador. Hacer una Conferencia Bi-Distrital lo es aún más. No se trata solo de logística y finanzas, sino de lograr que dos culturas, dos estilos, dos formas de vivir el rotarismo, encuentren armonía y propósito común. Pero cuando eso se logra —como lo logramos— el resultado es simplemente mágico.
Fueron dos años de preparación, de planeación cuidadosa, de reuniones y sueños compartidos. Y sí, fue un éxito. No lo digo solo yo. Lo dice la sonrisa de cada uno de los 475 participantes que hicieron de esta Conferencia un espacio para aprender, celebrar, reconocer, y sobre todo, vivir el rotarismo con alegría.
La Noche de Sabroso Panamá marcó el inicio perfecto: un espacio lleno de color, de bailes, de sabores de nuestra campiña, de música que nos unió en una sola identidad latinoamericana. No fue solo una bienvenida, fue una declaración de que veníamos a disfrutar, a compartir, a crecer juntos.
El formato de la conferencia se transformó un poco, pensando en la motivación. La inauguración fue relajada, distinta, y ofreció un espacio especial para homenajear a quienes han dejado huella. Las ponencias, profundas y bien presentadas, nos llenaron de ideas, energía y convicción de que vamos por buen camino. Y por supuesto, la Feria de Proyectos, que nos dio una ventana a la creatividad rotaria y cuyo impacto conoceremos pronto.
Pero más allá del contenido, hubo algo que no se puede planificar ni comprar: la magia. Esa que se vio en los abrazos sinceros, en las risas compartidas, en los bailes interminables de la noche retro, en las fotos llenas de colores, guayaberas, trajes tropicales y los inconfundibles sombreros Panamá. La magia de sentirnos amigos más allá de nuestras fronteras, de ver a nuestras futuras Gobernadoras presentar con ilusión sus planes, y de saber que el futuro de nuestros Distritos está en buenas manos.
Sí, ahora llega la parte difícil: despedirnos. Pero no con tristeza, sino con la esperanza de un próximo encuentro. Porque lo vivido no termina con el cierre de la Conferencia, sino que nos motiva a seguir sirviendo con alegría y a volver a encontrarnos.
Gracias a cada persona que hizo esto posible: al comité organizador, al personal del hotel y restaurante, a los ponentes, a los artistas, y sobre todo, a cada rotario y rotaria que creyó, asistió y vibró con esta experiencia. El rotarismo se sintió, se vivió y se celebró.
La Magia de Rotary se hizo presente, y nos unió una vez más en amistad, servicio y paz.

The Magic of Being United
Dear Rotarian friends,
If I had to describe the recent Bi-District Conference in just one word, I couldn’t. I would need many: joyful, united, friendship, well-prepared, inspired, grateful, pleased… Each of these expressions was shared by those who experienced this event and reflect the feelings of everyone who was part of this unforgettable gathering.
Organizing a District Conference is already a major challenge for any Governor. Organizing a Bi-District Conference is even more so. It’s not just about logistics and finances — it’s about bringing together two cultures, two styles, two ways of living Rotary, and finding harmony and a shared purpose. But when it happens —as it did— the result is simply magical.
It took two years of preparation, of careful planning, of meetings and shared dreams. And yes, it was a success. I’m not the only one saying it. The smiles of the 475 participants who turned this Conference into a space for learning, celebration, recognition, and above all, for living Rotary with joy, say it too.
The “Sabroso Panama” Night was the perfect opening: a space full of color, dances, flavors of our countryside, and music that brought us together in a shared Latin American identity. It wasn’t just a welcome — it was a statement that we were here to enjoy, to share, and to grow together.
We slightly changed the format of the conference, aiming to boost motivation. The opening ceremony was relaxed and different, offering a special space to honor those who have left a mark. The presentations, delivered masterfully, filled us with ideas, energy, and conviction that we are on the right path. And of course, the Project Fair, which gave us a glimpse into the creativity of our Rotarians — its impact will be revealed soon.
But beyond the content, there was something you can’t plan or buy: the magic. The magic felt in the warm embraces, in the shared laughter, in the endless dancing during the retro night, in the colorful photos, the tropical dresses, guayaberas, and the unmistakable Panama hats. The magic of friendship that knows no borders, of seeing our future Governors present their plans with enthusiasm, and of knowing that the future of our Districts is in good hands.
Yes, now comes the hard part: saying goodbye. But not with sadness — with the hope of a next meeting. Because what we lived doesn’t end with the conference, it stays with us as motivation to keep serving with joy and to meet again.
Thank you to everyone who made this possible: the organizing committee, the hotel and restaurant staff, the speakers, the performers, and above all, each Rotarian who believed in this, attended, and made this experience come alive. Rotary was felt, lived, and celebrated.
The Magic of Rotary was present, uniting us once again in friendship, service, and peace.
