Carta de Domingo – La Unión Hace la Fuerza

Querida familia rotaria:
A lo largo de este año rotario he sido testigo de cómo, cuando los clubes y los socios se unen, el impacto es mucho mayor que la suma de los esfuerzos individuales. Ya sea para ejecutar un proyecto comunitario, atender una urgencia o fortalecer nuestras áreas de enfoque, el trabajo en equipo sigue siendo la clave que transforma las buenas intenciones en resultados concretos y sostenibles.
Paul Harris soñó con un mundo más justo y solidario, pero su sueño no habría tenido forma si no hubiera contado con el apoyo de tres buenos amigos: Silvester Schiele, Gustavus Loehr y Hiram Shorey. Esa primera reunión de cuatro personas, motivadas por la camaradería y el deseo de servir, dio paso a lo que hoy conocemos como Rotary International, una red mundial con más de un millón de socios en más de 200 países, haciendo el bien en el mundo.
Lo que comenzó con cuatro, hoy mueve millones. Pero ese espíritu de unidad no puede perderse. Necesitamos que cada club se mantenga unido, que cada comité trabaje coordinadamente y que cada socio sepa que su aporte es fundamental para el éxito de cualquier iniciativa.
¿Y cómo logramos ese éxito colectivo? Aquí te comparto cinco pasos esenciales para alcanzar nuestras metas en equipo:
- Tener una visión compartida: Todos deben entender cuál es el objetivo del proyecto y qué impacto se espera generar. Una meta clara une voluntades.
- Distribuir responsabilidades: Cada socio tiene talentos y habilidades únicas. Asignar tareas según fortalezas hace el trabajo más eficiente y motivador.
- Comunicación constante y efectiva: Reuniones claras, seguimiento oportuno y espacios para el diálogo son clave para mantener el rumbo.
- Evaluar y ajustar: En el camino pueden surgir obstáculos. La flexibilidad y la capacidad de adaptarse permiten corregir y mejorar continuamente.
- Celebrar los logros y agradecer: Reconocer el esfuerzo fortalece el sentido de pertenencia y nos impulsa a seguir sirviendo con entusiasmo.
La unión de nuestras voluntades puede movilizar montañas. Lo he visto en campañas de salud, en respuesta a desastres naturales, en proyectos de agua, alfabetización y medio ambiente. Lo he visto cuando clubes se unen para alcanzar una meta común, cuando varias manos se levantan para ayudar, cuando las fronteras desaparecen y el único lenguaje que importa es el del servicio.
Esta semana, te invito a reflexionar: ¿cómo podemos fortalecer el espíritu de equipo en nuestro club? ¿A qué proyecto podemos invitar a otro club a sumarse? ¿Cómo puedo yo ser un mejor compañero en este viaje rotario?
Recordemos siempre que la magia de Rotary se multiplica cuando servimos unidos. Como bien dice nuestro lema este año: «Unidos en Servicio, Amistad y Paz.»

Sunday Letter – United We Are Stronger

Dear Rotary Family,
Throughout this Rotary year, I’ve witnessed firsthand how, when clubs and members unite, the impact becomes far greater than the sum of individual efforts. Whether it’s for executing a community project, responding to an urgent need, or strengthening our areas of focus, teamwork is the key that transforms good intentions into tangible, lasting results.
Paul Harris dreamed of a fairer and more supportive world, but his dream would never have taken shape without the support of three close friends: Silvester Schiele, Gustavus Loehr, and Hiram Shorey. That very first meeting of four men, brought together by friendship and a desire to serve, gave birth to what we now know as Rotary International—a global network of more than one million members in over 200 countries, doing good in the world.
What began with four people now moves millions. But we must never lose that spirit of unity. We need each club to stay connected, every committee to work in coordination, and every member to know that their contribution is essential to the success of any initiative.
So how do we achieve collective success? Here are five key steps that can help us reach our goals as a team:
- Shared vision – Everyone must understand the purpose of the project and the impact we aim to create. A clear goal unites efforts.
- Distribute responsibilities – Each member has unique talents and strengths. Assigning tasks accordingly makes our work more efficient and fulfilling.
- Consistent and effective communication – Clear meetings, timely follow-ups, and open dialogue help keep us on track.
- Evaluate and adapt – Challenges will arise. Flexibility and a willingness to adjust are essential for continuous improvement.
- Celebrate achievements and express gratitude – Acknowledging effort strengthens the sense of belonging and inspires us to keep serving with enthusiasm.
When we unite our willpower, we can move mountains. I’ve seen it in health campaigns, in response to natural disasters, in water, literacy, and environmental projects. I’ve seen it when clubs come together for a common goal, when many hands rise to help, when borders disappear, and the only language spoken is service.
This week, I invite you to reflect: How can we strengthen teamwork in our club? What project can we invite another club to join? How can I be a better teammate in this Rotary journey?
Let’s always remember that Rotary’s magic multiplies when we serve united. As our theme reminds us this year: “United in Service, Friendship, and Peace.”
