Carta de Domingo:El Campamento Interact: Un Encuentro con el Liderazgo y la Historia del Canal de Panamá
Queridos compañeros rotarios,
Esta semana se celebró el primer Campamento Interact temático del Canal de Panamá, una experiencia que, sin duda, quedará grabada en la memoria de nuestros jóvenes líderes. Fue una oportunidad única para descubrir, aprender y, sobretodo, crecer como líderes y como personas.
El propósito de este campamento no era solo conocer la historia y funcionamiento de una de las maravillas de la ingeniería moderna, sino también fortalecer el liderazgo y la camaradería entre los participantes. Los clubes Interact presentes, con jóvenes de diferentes regiones, compartieron no solo un espacio de aprendizaje, sino momentos inolvidables que, según sus propias palabras, han transformado su visión sobre el liderazgo y el servicio.
Albis Castillo, del Club Interact de David, nos cuenta: «Para mí, esta experiencia fue maravillosa desde el inicio. Compartimos con compañeros de distintos lugares, y al llegar nos recibieron no solo como un club, sino como una familia. […] Me sentí muy feliz y motivado, especialmente porque nunca había visitado el Canal. Aprendí las características y el comportamiento de un buen líder». Este tipo de experiencias no solo educan, sino que crean lazos profundos que fomentan la verdadera esencia de Rotary: la amistad y el servicio.
Yeiko Santamaría, del Club Interact de Boquete, destaca: «En este primer campamento, no solo descubrí la riqueza histórica de los lugares visitados, sino que compartimos momentos únicos e inolvidables con líderes excepcionales. Las dinámicas que hicimos reforzaron nuestras amistades y el deseo de ser mejores». Estos testimonios nos demuestran que este espacio va más allá de un simple viaje; es una oportunidad para que nuestros jóvenes exploren su potencial y fortalezcan sus valores.
No puedo dejar de mencionar la alegría de María Sofía Fonseca, del Club Interact Jóvenes Emprendedores de David, quien compartió: «Mi experiencia fue increíble, llena de aprendizaje; me dio inspiración para ayudar a más personas y querer ser mejor líder». Este campamento les brindó a los jóvenes las herramientas para enfrentar los desafíos del liderazgo y el servicio con una nueva perspectiva.
Los clubes rotarios debemos continuar apoyando y patrocinando más clubes Interact. Estas experiencias son fundamentales para cultivar a los futuros líderes de nuestras comunidades. Como rotarios, es nuestra responsabilidad brindarles estos espacios donde puedan aprender, crecer y, sobre todo, motivarse a seguir adelante en su camino de servicio.
Agradezco a los organizadores, asesores,y, en especial, a Odilia Delgado Coordinadora del Campamento y Aleyda Espinoza Presidente Distrital para Clubes Interact por su liderazgo y compromiso con la juventud. Sigamos trabajando juntos para construir un mundo mejor, unidos en servicio, amistad y paz.

Sunday Letter: The Interact Camp: An Encounter with Leadership and the History of the Panama Canal
Dear Rotary colleagues,
This week, the first Interact Camp themed around the Panama Canal was held, an experience that will undoubtedly be etched in the memories of our young leaders. It was a unique opportunity to discover, learn, and most importantly, grow as leaders and as individuals.
The purpose of this camp was not only to learn about the history and operation of one of the modern engineering marvels but also to strengthen leadership and camaraderie among the participants. The Interact clubs present, with youth from different regions, shared not only a space for learning but also unforgettable moments that, in their own words, have transformed their vision of leadership and service.
Albis Castillo, from the Interact Club of David, tells us: «For me, this experience was wonderful from the start. We shared with peers from different places, and upon arriving, we were received not just as a club, but as a family. […] I felt very happy and motivated, especially because I had never visited the Canal before. I learned the characteristics and behavior of a good leader.» These types of experiences not only educate but also create deep bonds that foster the true essence of Rotary: friendship and service.
Yeiko Santamaría, from the Interact Club of Boquete, highlights: «In this first camp, I not only discovered the historical richness of the places we visited, but we also shared unique and unforgettable moments with exceptional leaders. The activities we did strengthened our friendships and our desire to be better.» These testimonials show us that this space goes beyond a simple trip; it is an opportunity for our young people to explore their potential and strengthen their values.
I cannot fail to mention the joy of María Sofía Fonseca, from the Interact Club of Young Entrepreneurs of David, who shared: «My experience was incredible, full of learning; it gave me inspiration to help more people and to want to be a better leader.» This camp provided the youth with the tools to face the challenges of leadership and service with a new perspective.
Rotary clubs must continue to support and sponsor more Interact clubs. These experiences are essential for cultivating the future leaders of our communities. As Rotarians, it is our responsibility to provide them with these spaces where they can learn, grow, and, above all, be motivated to continue on their path of service.
I extend my gratitude to the organizers, advisors, and especially to Odilia Delgado, Camp Coordinator, and Aleyda Espinoza, District President for Interact Clubs, for their leadership and commitment to the youth. Let us continue working together to build a better world, united in service, friendship, and peace.
