Carta de Domingo:Ideas para Celebrar Aniversarios de Clubes y Países en Rotary
Queridos compañeros Rotarios,
Celebrar aniversarios es siempre un momento importante en la vida de nuestros clubes y de los países donde Rotary tiene presencia. Ya sea que estemos conmemorando 5, 25, 75 o incluso 100 años, estas fechas marcan hitos significativos que merecen ser reconocidos de manera especial, tanto para fortalecer la camaradería entre los socios como para hacer un impacto positivo en nuestras comunidades.
Hoy quiero compartir algunas ideas que pueden ayudarnos a celebrar estos aniversarios con un enfoque que destaque el servicio y nos brinde exposición positiva ante la comunidad.
Proyectos emblemáticos de servicio: Dedicar el aniversario a un proyecto de impacto duradero, como la construcción de parques, centros comunitarios o la renovación de infraestructuras públicas. Esto asegura que la comunidad asocie el aniversario del club con una contribución tangible y significativa.
Campañas de sensibilización y salud: Aprovechar la ocasión para organizar jornadas de salud, limpiezas de áreas públicas, campañas de vacunación, o iniciativas de donación de sangre. Estas actividades pueden resaltar el compromiso de Rotary con la mejora del bienestar comunitario y atraer la atención de medios locales.
Premios a ciudadanos distinguidos: Durante el evento de aniversario, se puede reconocer a personas o instituciones que han realizado un servicio ejemplar en la comunidad. Esto no solo fortalece los lazos entre el club y su entorno, sino que también destaca la misión de Rotary de fomentar la paz y el servicio.
Eventos para la juventud: Organizar concursos, becas o campamentos para jóvenes en nombre del aniversario puede atraer a nuevas generaciones y fortalecer programas como Interact y Rotaract.
Medios de comunicación y redes sociales: Utilizar estos canales para contar la historia del club y compartir las celebraciones de manera atractiva y accesible. Crear documentales cortos, entrevistas con socios fundadores o exposiciones fotográficas que resalten los logros del club.
Sin embargo, es fundamental recordar que, aunque los eventos internacionales o celebraciones en gran escala puedan parecer atractivos, el verdadero impacto debe ser interno. Nuestro objetivo debe centrarse en generar un cambio significativo en la comunidad local, y no arriesgarse a comprometer la estabilidad financiera del club.
Así que, en cada aniversario, que nuestra motivación sea celebrar sirviendo, con la mirada puesta en cómo nuestras acciones pueden seguir mejorando el mundo, comenzando por nuestra propia comunidad.

Sunday Letter: Ideas for Celebrating Rotary Club and Country Anniversaries
Dear fellow Rotarians,
Celebrating anniversaries is always a meaningful milestone in the life of our clubs and the countries where Rotary is present. Whether we are commemorating 5, 25, 75, or even 100 years, these dates represent significant moments that deserve special recognition, both to strengthen camaraderie among members and to make a positive impact in our communities.
Today, I would like to share some ideas on how we can celebrate these anniversaries with a focus on service and increasing our visibility in the community.
Signature service projects: Dedicate the anniversary to a project that leaves a lasting impact, such as building parks, community centers, or renovating public infrastructure. This ensures the community associates the club’s anniversary with a tangible and meaningful contribution.
Awareness and health campaigns: Use the occasion to organize health days, clean-up efforts in public spaces, vaccination drives, or blood donation initiatives. These activities can highlight Rotary’s commitment to improving community well-being and attract local media attention.
Awards for distinguished citizens: During the anniversary event, honor individuals or institutions that have demonstrated exemplary service to the community. This not only strengthens the club’s local ties but also emphasizes Rotary’s mission of fostering peace and service.
Youth-focused events: Organizing contests, scholarships, or camps for young people in honor of the anniversary can attract new generations and strengthen programs like Interact and Rotaract.
Media and social networks: Use these platforms to tell the club’s story and share the celebrations in an appealing and accessible way. Create short documentaries, interviews with founding members, or photo exhibitions highlighting the club’s achievements.
However, it is crucial to remember that while international events or large-scale celebrations may seem attractive, the true impact should be internal. Our goal should focus on making a meaningful change in the local community, without risking the club’s financial stability.
So, in every anniversary, let our motivation be to celebrate through service, with our sights set on how our actions can continue to make the world a better place, starting with our own community.
