Carta de Domingo: Aventuras y Adaptaciones en el Corazón de Rotary
Queridos amigos rotarios,
Espero que esta carta dominical los encuentre bien y llenos de entusiasmo para otra semana de servicio y compañerismo. Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes la historia de mi primera visita oficial como Gobernador del Distrito 4240 al Club Rotario de Bocas del Toro, una experiencia que resultó ser toda una aventura.
Mi jornada comenzó con un viaje en coche de cuatro horas, una travesía que me llevó a través de los paisajes exuberantes y diversos de nuestra región. Al llegar al puerto, tomé un bote taxi que me llevó a la encantadora Isla Colón, una de las islas históricas que Cristóbal Colón visitó en sus viajes al nuevo continente. La mezcla de historia y belleza natural en este lugar es realmente inspiradora.
El Club Rotario de Bocas del Toro es un dinámico grupo de rotarios que, con su estilo caribeño, realiza grandes obras para su comunidad. Desde proyectos de educación hasta iniciativas de salud y bienestar, su dedicación y creatividad son notables. Felicitaciones a todos los miembros de este club por su excelente trabajo y su compromiso con los valores rotarios. Su energía y entusiasmo son verdaderamente contagiosos.
Esta visita también me llevó a reflexionar sobre la importancia del cambio y la adaptación. Recordemos las palabras de nuestro fundador, Paul Harris: «Este es un mundo cambiante, debemos estar preparados para cambiar con él». Esta frase resuena profundamente en nuestro contexto actual. A veces, nos resistimos a los cambios, lo que puede obstaculizar el crecimiento de nuestros clubes. Sin embargo, el cambio es lo único permanente, y debemos abrazarlo para seguir avanzando.
A medida que nos acercamos al mes de la membresía, es crucial que pensemos en cómo podemos adaptarnos y evolucionar. La innovación y la apertura a nuevas ideas son esenciales para atraer y retener a nuevos miembros. Debemos ser flexibles y estar dispuestos a modificar nuestras prácticas para satisfacer las necesidades cambiantes de nuestras comunidades y de nuestros miembros.
Les animo a todos a reflexionar sobre cómo pueden implementar cambios positivos en sus clubes. Puede ser algo tan sencillo como modificar el formato de las reuniones, involucrar más a los jóvenes o explorar nuevos tipos de proyectos de servicio. Cada pequeño cambio puede tener un gran impacto en la vitalidad y el crecimiento de nuestro movimiento rotario.
Agradezco de corazón al Club Rotario de Bocas del Toro por su hospitalidad y por recordarnos la belleza y el impacto del servicio rotario. Juntos, podemos enfrentar cualquier desafío y aprovechar cada oportunidad para hacer el bien.

Sunday Letter: Adventures and Adaptations at the Heart of Rotary
Dear Rotarian friends,
I hope this Sunday letter finds you well and full of enthusiasm for another week of service and fellowship. Today, I want to share with you the story of my first official visit as District 4240 Governor to the Rotary Club of Bocas del Toro, an experience that turned out to be quite an adventure.
My journey began with a four-hour drive, a trek that took me through the lush and diverse landscapes of our region. Upon arriving at the port, I took a water taxi that transported me to the charming Isla Colón, one of the historical islands visited by Christopher Columbus during his voyages to the new continent. The blend of history and natural beauty in this place is truly inspiring.
The Rotary Club of Bocas del Toro is a dynamic group of Rotarians who, with their Caribbean flair, carry out great works for their community. From education projects to health and wellness initiatives, their dedication and creativity are remarkable. Congratulations to all the members of this club for their excellent work and commitment to Rotary values. Their energy and enthusiasm are truly contagious.
This visit also led me to reflect on the importance of change and adaptation. Let us remember the words of our founder, Paul Harris: «This is a changing world; we must be prepared to change with it.» This phrase resonates deeply in our current context. Sometimes, we resist change, which can hinder the growth of our clubs. However, change is the only constant, and we must embrace it to continue moving forward.
As we approach Membership Month, it is crucial that we think about how we can adapt and evolve. Innovation and openness to new ideas are essential to attract and retain new members. We must be flexible and willing to modify our practices to meet the changing needs of our communities and members.
I encourage you all to reflect on how you can implement positive changes in your clubs. It can be something as simple as modifying the format of meetings, involving more young people, or exploring new types of service projects. Every small change can have a significant impact on the vitality and growth of our Rotary movement.
I sincerely thank the Rotary Club of Bocas del Toro for their hospitality and for reminding us of the beauty and impact of Rotary service. Together, we can face any challenge and seize every opportunity to do good.
